The MEND Project
Story Sharing Guidelines and Express Consent for Publication
- Thank you. Thank you for your courage, and for taking the time to share your story. We believe that you sharing your experience in writing will provide both comfort and courage for victim-survivors and will help others to gain a deeper understanding.
- Your Name. The MEND Project will only publish a pseudonym for author’s name. It’s the best way for us to protect you. State your author name choice below. Please know that in the past we allowed individuals to use their first name, but we are no longer able to do that.
- Anonymity. We also ask that you please do not give real names of other people or entities that have caused you harm without our express permission. We will change the name to a pseudonym before posting or publishing your story if we haven’t permitted it.
- Story length. We ask that your story contain approximately 600 to 1500 words, although it can be longer and we are OK with that. Do you often find yourself questioning your own judgment of what actually took place, wondering if you're imagining things or if you’re too sensitive?
- Change your mind. If you change your mind and ask us to pull your story from publication, please do so in writing and sign it (so that we know it is you making the request). In that case, we can take your story off of our website or social media, but cannot control any copies that happened to be circulated during the time The MEND Project published it with your express consent. We will be unable to withdraw it from published print materials that have already been printed at the time you withdraw your consent.ave you lost touch with yourself, forgotten how to be who you once were, or feel like a shadow of your former self?
- Length of Time. Stories may or may not remain on our website. We hope you will understand if for some reason we need to take your story down.
- Express Consent. By signing here, you are giving your express and unlimited consent, authorization and agreement for The MEND Project to reproduce, publish and post your story in whole or in part on its website, social media or any other outlet that The Mend Project uses to further its non-profit vision and mission.
