MEND Training

For Responders

Many victims and survivors reach out for help while still feeling confused, overwhelmed, and unable to clearly describe what they are experiencing. The MEND Project’s in-person or virtual training for responders is for the people survivors most often turn to for help.

Who This Training Is For

This training is designed for those who support victims and survivors, whether the survivor recognizes they’re experiencing abuse or not. This includes:

  • Advocates, mentors, and other trusted supporters
  • Friends and family members
  • Counseling centers and group practices
  • Faith leaders and ministry teams
  • Healthcare providers
  • Nonprofit and community-based professionals

What You Will Learn

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize hidden and confusing forms of emotional abuse
  • Understand warning signs, harmful patterns, and trauma symptoms
  • Learn to interface with vulnerable survivors in ways that won’t inadvertently cause more harm
  • Respond to victims and survivors in ways they need it most
  • Use our practical tools to support and empower healing

Why This Training Matters

Many people want to help, but without the right understanding, they may misread abuse or signs of trauma and respond in ways that increase harm.

MEND’s training gives practical language, clear guidance, and a strong foundation for recognizing abuse and responding wisely.

The course was very well received and my staff gave very positive feedback. Thank you so much. We are very grateful for the resource that the MEND project has been to us over the years.
